Methodology
Catalyst Diagnostic has developed a Laboratory Developed Test (LDT), that is not FDA approved, for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) in humans. The CovidNow SARS-CoV-2 kit contains the assays and controls for a real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test intended for the qualitative detection of nucleic acid from SARS-CoV-2 in nasopharyngeal, nasal, or oralpharyngeal swab specimens. The CovidNow SARS-CoV-2 kit is a multiplex assay that contain two primer/probe sets specific to SARS-CoV-2 genomic region and primers/probes for internal control. The two targets used in the workflow are N1 specific to SARS Cov-2 and human RNase P as an internal control. The primer probes used in this method are obtained from CDC 2019-nCoV Real-Time RT-PCR Diagnostic Panel.
Our testing looks at a gene within SARS-CoV-2, plus controls when determinging presence:

This ensures the best detection and accuracy including covering cases of variations of the virus.
Results Reporting
All positive results are reported to the appropriate state agency as well contact information to help support contact tracing.
